About This Compound
Bacteriostatic water is sterile, purified water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative, supplied in a 10 mL multi-use glass vial with a crimp-sealed rubber stopper. The preservative inhibits the growth of most contaminating bacteria, which is why laboratories keep it as the standard aqueous solvent and diluent for research compounds supplied as lyophilized powder.
Each lot is independently tested: identity of the preservative is confirmed by LC-MS and purity by HPLC-UV, and the lot-matched Certificate of Analysis is published in our COA database. The vial carries the lot number on its label for traceability.
